I was born in California, and it has been my home for many years.

My interest in photography began in the seventh grade, thanks to a wonderful art teacher who encouraged my curiosity and introduced me to the school's tiny darkroom. It contained a single enlarger, and I spent countless hours there printing my first few rolls of film. I knew very little about the technical side of printing, and the photographs I produced were small and often quite crude, but I was captivated by the process of watching an image slowly emerge on paper. That fascination has never left me.

When I was younger, I remember seeing a collection of black-and-white photographs displayed at a nearby college. Looking at them, I couldn't tell when they had been made. Their timelessness made a lasting impression on me. Color photographs often revealed their age—colors faded, printing processes changed, and photographic styles evolved—but the black-and-white prints seemed untouched by time. They looked just as compelling whether they had been made ten years earlier or a hundred years earlier. That realization has stayed with me ever since and continues to influence the way I see photography today.

After earning a Bachelor's degree in Applied Art & Design, I began working professionally as a photographer. Over the years my assignments have included corporate annual reports, portraiture, architectural and real estate photography, and a wide variety of commercial projects. Throughout that time, however, black-and-white landscape photography remained my personal passion. The photographs presented on this website represent that lifelong pursuit.

Most of these images were created using traditional film cameras, ranging from medium-format 120 film to 4×5 large format. In recent years I have transitioned to medium-format digital equipment, and I continue to be amazed by the extraordinary detail and resolution it is capable of producing.
